Power Walking | Club Mondain

Power Walking is an exercise method that is accessible to people from all levels of fitness, it is not intended to be out of breath or breaking a sweat. Therefore it does not require workout clothes although flat shoes are a must.

Power Walking is an elevated form of walking that will get the blood and oxygen moving through your body. Especially after an intense meeting or work task, Power Walking is a great way to get back into your body.

Taking a break and going outside is not only healthy for your body it is also a great way to relax your mind. By moving your body, your body gets a break from sitting still and the same time you create space for your mind to process the day so far. To create this space the trick is to use mindfulness in these 3 easy steps:

  1. Name 3 things that you hear and 5 things that you see - literally

  2. Yes, even if you whisper. Make sure you put it in words

  3. This will bring you into the here and now. Away from your thoughts and back into your own body because you use your auditory and visual sensories.

An optimal moment for a Power Walk is right after lunch or go for lunch a few blocks over. This way you’ll benefit from the advantages of walking plus stimulate your digestion as well. however, any moment will do it. Just make sure that if you want to do it, you just go for it.

And - tip from our members - just schedule it in, Whether you do this yourself, let your assistant or another your colleague do it as long as it is planned, you’ll go.

Remember our previous blog on stretching? You could even stretch before Power Walking, but it is not a must just always make sure you build your pace up gradually. Again the aim is not to sweat or be out of breath, build-up to a brisk pace and keep it up for at least 15 consecutive minutes.
