Yoga for Body & Mind | Club Mondain

Yoga is all the rave right now. It’s super hip and you can do a class almost anywhere at any time. Great! But why exactly? And what are the differences between the many types?

In western society Yoga is associated with movements of the body, relaxation and flexibility. In the east it is actually more a way of life. Reasons to practice Yoga are personal, however it will surely help you to become more aware of your body, calm your mind and stretch them.

Yoga comes in many shapes, styles and levels. Club Mondain likes to explore the 6 main streams types of Yoga:

  1. Astanga - Focus on cardio

  2. Hatha - Focus on strength

  3. Vinyasa - Focus on cardio

  4. Kundalini - Focus on consciousness

  5. Yin - Focus on relaxing the mind

  6. Bikram - Focus on flexibility (higher temperature in the room)

Yogi's see everyone as a beginner, and every class is a new start, share with the teacher that you are new to their class. They will keep an extra eye on you. There is no need to carry your own mat for a one-time class, do always bring your own towel and water bottle.

If joining a class is too intimidating you can start online and use YouTube tutorials as your guide like Man Flow Yoga:

No matter where you start Yoga will serve to bring relaxation and exercise together.
