Description
An Ekiden is a traditional Japanese running tradition. Six team members run the marathon in relay form and hand eachother the sash over the distances of 5 km, 10 km, 5 km, 10 km, 5 km and 7.2 km. The teams battle for the open Amsterdam Championships. There is competition for the Open Amsterdam Championship in five different categories, namely 'Companies', 'Sports associations', 'Schools', 'Friend teams' and 'Athletics Union competition teams'.
